Sometimes these birds are called “waterfowls” because in the wild they are usually found in places with water like ponds, streams and rivers. They have short necks and wings and webbed feet. Most duck species are undemanding and can live feely in the garden, backyard or in a city park and feed on insects, slugs and any wildlife both in water and on land. It is a popular misconception that ducks should be fed bread. Bread has limited nutritional value and can be deadly when fed to developing ducklings.
